When a mother lacks the means to earn a stable income, the consequences fall directly on her children: school fees go unpaid, nutrition suffers, and the cycle of poverty tightens its grip on the next generation. At CODEWA, we know that women are not passive recipients of aid; they are entrepreneurs, leaders, and the most reliable drivers of community transformation.
Nos Women’s Economic Empowerment Program focuses on shifting the narrative from survival to stability. We provide practical entrepreneurship training—covering financial literacy, marketing, and business planning—to turn raw talent into profitable enterprises. However, we know that skills alone aren’t enough. Your contributions provide the critical “Seed Capital” and essential tools women need to launch their businesses immediately.
Beyond individual support, we establish Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), creating a community safety net where women can save, lend, and grow together. Coupled with long-term mentorship, these initiatives ensure that growth is not temporary but sustainable. Across Tanzania, many children arrive at school on empty stomachs, weakened by malnutrition or struggling with untreated illnesses. When a child is sick or hungry, the most inspiring lesson in the world cannot reach them. Poverty forces families to make impossible choices between buying food or seeking medical treatment, leaving children to suffer from preventable conditions that lead to frequent absenteeism and, eventually, the end of their education.
CODEWA’s Health & Nutrition Program is built on the belief that a child’s well-being is the bedrock of their dignity and opportunity. We take a holistic approach to ensure no child is left behind because of hunger or preventable illness. Your support allows us to enroll vulnerable children in health insurance schemes, providing them with year-round access to doctors and hospitals. It funds school breakfast programs that provide nutrient-rich porridge, ensuring every student starts their day with the energy to focus and the joy to learn.
Beyond immediate care, we empower children with essential hygiene and sanitation knowledge, including menstrual health management for girls, to reduce stigma and keep them in class.
