Igniting Early Literacy: Renovate a Classroom
SDG 4 · Quality Education
SDG 10 · Reduced Inequalities
Only 5% left ready to read.
We are changing that.
At Town School in Tabora, 289 children shared one broken room. No desks. No books. No light. Only one in twenty left able to read and write. With support from the Kitchen Table Charities Trust, CODEWA transformed those classrooms, trained 62 teachers, and proved a model that now needs to reach rural schools across Tanzania.
“The problem was never the children. It was never the teachers. It was the silence of a system that forgot to build the room.” CODEWA Field Assessment, Town School, 2024
