CODEWA at the Annual NGO Symposium 2025 – Dodoma
From 11–13 August 2025, the Community Development Watch (CODEWA) team joined over 2,000 participants at the Tanzania Annual NGO Symposium held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre in Dodoma.
The annual symposium is one of the most significant gatherings for civil society organizations in Tanzania — a space where NGOs, government institutions, and development partners come together to reflect, collaborate, and chart the way forward for sustainable national development.

A Platform for Collaboration and Growth
The symposium provided a unique opportunity to:
✅ Network and share experiences among NGOs from across the country.
✅ Build institutional capacity and strengthen collaboration between organizations.
✅ Discuss ongoing reforms and the enabling environment for civil society operations in Tanzania.
Through these discussions, key issues were addressed, including accountability, transparency, and the crucial role of NGOs in complementing government efforts to reach underserved communities.
CODEWA’s Voice at the Symposium
Representing the communities we serve, CODEWA added its voice to important national conversations—particularly on the recognition of NGOs as charitable organizations and the need for fair, practical compliance frameworks that allow more resources to reach the people who need them most.
Our participation reinforced our belief that when NGOs are supported with the right policies and collaboration opportunities, they can drive meaningful and lasting change.
“This gathering reaffirmed the vital role of NGOs in advancing Tanzania’s socio-economic development goals,” shared Sadath Mwamsema, CODEWA’s Executive Secretary and National Council of NGOs (NaCoNGO) Member representing Tabora Region.
Moving Forward Together
The event served as a reminder that collective action, shared learning, and strong partnerships are essential to building a Tanzania where every child and youth is inspired and empowered to achieve their dreams.
CODEWA remains committed to engaging in national dialogues that promote inclusion, accountability, and empowerment for all. 💡💪
