There is something deeply powerful about watching a child plant a tree. In that simple act lies a promise\u2014to the environment, to the future, and to generations yet to come. At Town School in Tabora, this promise became a reality as students took the lead in planting fruit trees through CODEWA\u2019s Go Green Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Fruit Tree Planting Matters<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Deforestation remains one of the most pressing environmental challenges in Tanzania. In regions like Tabora, communities face the growing impact of reduced rainfall, soil erosion, rising temperatures, and the loss of biodiversity. Many schools lack green spaces, missing valuable opportunities to restore nature while educating children about environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CODEWA recognized these gaps and acted early, ensuring that Town School could contribute to long-term reforestation efforts while strengthening learners\u2019 connection to nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How CODEWA Empowered Students to Plant for the Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Go Green Project, students were trained and supported in planting fruit trees across the school compound. Through interactive, hands-on lessons, they learned essential skills such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Soil enrichment using organic manure<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    This heartfelt moment reflects the emotional connection the children developed\u2014seeing themselves as caretakers of the environment and contributors to their community\u2019s wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
