Empowering Young Change Makers: Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Training

On February 26, 2022, CODEWA proudly launched a transformative three-week training program on Problem-Solving and Decision-Making for 25 enthusiastic young change makers in Tabora. This initiative was designed to equip the next generation of leaders with essential life skills that foster resilience, critical thinking, and confident decision-making, empowering them to navigate challenges both in their personal lives and future careers.

The Importance of Problem-Solving Skills

Problems, when approached with the right mindset, build character, resilience, and perseverance. They teach young people to think differently, find creative solutions, and approach challenges with confidence rather than fear.

Youth who lack problem-solving skills may avoid trying new things, struggle with decision-making, or react impulsively in difficult situations. By providing structured training, CODEWA ensures that participants can:

  • Analyze challenges effectively and think critically
  • Make informed and healthy decisions independently
  • Approach new experiences with courage and creativity
  • Develop resilience to navigate setbacks and obstacles
  • Build confidence, independence, and a sense of responsibility

These skills are not just about individual growth—they are essential for cultivating future leaders, entrepreneurs, and community advocates who can positively impact society.

Training Content and Approach

The three-week program included:

  • Interactive workshops on problem-solving techniques and decision-making strategies
  • Group exercises to foster teamwork, communication, and collaboration
  • Real-world scenarios to apply skills and encourage practical thinking
  • Mentorship sessions with experienced facilitators sharing personal insights and guidance

Each session was carefully designed to ensure that participants could immediately apply what they learned in school, at home, and within their communities.
