Promoting Inclusive Education: Advocating for Children with Disabilities
On December 7, 2022, CODEWA joined hands with Child Support Tanzania, Elimu Bora Foundation, and PEDICAMA to host a transformative one-day workshop in the Tabora Region, dedicated to promoting the rights of children with disabilities and advancing inclusive education. This event brought together a diverse group of educators, parents, community leaders, and policymakers with the shared goal of creating awareness, exchanging knowledge, and strengthening collaborative efforts toward inclusive learning environments.
Inclusive education is more than a policy—it’s a commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential, regardless of ability. This workshop represented a vital step toward that vision.

Empowering Stakeholders for Inclusion
The workshop was designed to equip stakeholders with practical tools and insights to enhance inclusive education practices. Key focus areas included:
- Understanding the Rights of Children with Disabilities: Highlighting national and international frameworks that protect and promote the rights of all learners.
- Best Practices in Inclusive Teaching: Sharing strategies for adapting lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
- Removing Barriers to Education: Identifying social, structural, and attitudinal obstacles and proposing actionable solutions.
- Community-Driven Support and Advocacy: Encouraging parents, teachers, and local leaders to champion inclusion within schools and communities.
By emphasizing collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the workshop aimed to foster environments where children with disabilities can participate fully and confidently in learning.
Strengthening CODEWA’s Commitment
This initiative underscores CODEWA’s ongoing dedication to education and inclusion. Every child—regardless of ability—deserves access to quality education, empowerment, and opportunities for personal growth.
Inclusive education is not only a right but a pathway to stronger, more cohesive communities. By supporting children with diverse abilities, we help nurture future leaders, thinkers, and active contributors to society.
