Empowering Women, Uplifting Families: CODEWA’s Entrepreneurship Training in Tabora
At Community Development Watch (CODEWA), we understand that supporting children’s well-being starts with empowering women. On April 23, 2021, our team launched a targeted intervention to uplift women in Tabora Municipality through entrepreneurship training, responding to requests from local government authorities and community leaders.

Why Women’s Empowerment Matters
When women are empowered to lead full and productive lives, children and families thrive. Recognizing this, CODEWA’s training programs are designed to provide women with practical business skills, economic knowledge, and innovative solutions to generate sustainable income for their households.
Our initiative focuses on:
- Entrepreneurship skills and financial literacy
- Production of alternative charcoal (#mkaa mbadala) and other eco-friendly products
- Strengthening women’s leadership and decision-making in households and communities
- Building confidence to run profitable and sustainable micro-businesses
Impact on Families and Communities
Empowered women create a ripple effect that benefits everyone around them:
- Children experience improved health, nutrition, and school attendance
- Families achieve greater economic stability and resilience
- Communities see stronger participation and leadership from women in development initiatives
This intervention aligns with CODEWA’s Health, Education, and Economic Empowerment programs, bridging gaps in livelihoods while improving the prospects of entire families.

A Call for Support
“If we care about the health and well-being of children today and into the future, we must work now to ensure that women and girls have equal opportunities to be educated, to participate in government, to achieve economic self-sufficiency and to be protected from violence and discrimination.” – Veneman
Your support can help expand these trainings to reach more women in Tabora and beyond. By contributing resources, expertise, or volunteering, you can empower women to transform their households, nurture their children, and strengthen their communities.
