CODEWA Joins 2025 African Child Day

Every year on June 16, Africa commemorates the Day of the African Child — a day dedicated to honoring the courage of children who fought for their rights and to renewing commitments toward improving the lives of African children today.

This year, Community Development Watch (CODEWA) proudly joined the preparations and celebration of the 2025 Day of the African Child in Tabora Municipality. The event brought together children, youth, educators, and community leaders under the theme of advancing child rights and well-being.

A Celebration of Voices and Action

The celebration featured:
✅ A children’s march advocating for the protection and fulfillment of child rights.
✅ A youth-led debate on social media, child rights, and gender-based violence — empowering young people to speak up and influence change.
✅ Donations of school supplies and sanitary pads to promote access to education and well-being for children in need.

The event not only celebrated the voices of children and youth but also emphasized the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for every child.

Recognition for CODEWA’s Commitment

We’re honored to share that CODEWA received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Tabora Municipal Director’s Office in recognition of our active participation in this year’s celebration and our ongoing efforts to protect and defend children’s rights.

This recognition is a testament to our mission — to equip children and youth with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to overcome challenges and contribute positively to their communities.
