Building Resilience at Huruma Children’s Home: Empowering Vulnerable Children

On July 12, 2022, CODEWA had the honor of visiting Huruma Children’s Home in Urambo, Tabora. This visit allowed our team to engage with the children in a nurturing environment, reinforcing our ongoing mission to support vulnerable children and equip them with essential life skills for a brighter future.

Fostering Resilience and Life Skills

During the visit, CODEWA conducted a resilience-building seminar designed to empower children to handle challenges confidently and positively. The seminar covered:

  • Developing self-confidence and emotional coping skills
  • Understanding and following safety guidelines
  • Practicing teamwork, respect, and cooperation
  • Strengthening problem-solving and adaptability skills

These sessions are not just activities—they are foundational experiences that help children grow into confident, responsible, and capable individuals.

Connecting to CODEWA Programs

This initiative is part of CODEWA’s broader commitment to:

  • Education: Supporting children to develop skills that enhance their learning and personal growth
  • Mentorship & Inspiration: Guiding children to overcome challenges, build confidence, and pursue their dreams
  • Child Protection & Inclusion: Ensuring that all children, including those in care centers, have safe, supportive environments where their rights are respected

By addressing both emotional and social development, we create opportunities for children to thrive academically, socially, and psychologically.

Why This Matters

Children in care homes often face unique challenges that can affect their growth and future prospects. Seminars like this one provide critical support, helping them develop resilience, self-discipline, and a positive mindset. These skills are essential for navigating life’s challenges and succeeding in school and beyond.
